Breathable. Silk is porous and permeates air.
Moisture wicking. Pure silk absorbs liquid without feeling damp or losing its insulating properties. It wicks away sweat keeping the skin dry and warm.
Lightweight. 150 grams per sq meter of silk fill will keep you cool in warm temperatures. Perfect for people living in hot climates. Cooler than feather or wool filled comforters. Can be used with other layers during cold season.

Care. Silk filled comforters are not washable. Machine washing or drying will shrink the silk filling. It will need to be spot cleaned and air dried. Can be dry cleaned only by specialized dry cleaners that have expertise in handling silk. Silk filled comforters should be used with a duvet cover. Recommended to air silk comforters outside for a few hours few times a year. Silk comforters don’t need to be fluffed because silk doesn’t clump like feathers do. Moreover, silk fibers don’t poke through the cover like feathers do.
Genuine silk vs. synthetic silk. The easiest way to establish the silk’s authenticity is through the burn test. Natural silk will burn with a smell like burnt hair and will produce a black, powdery ash. It will only burn while the flame is being applied – take the flame away and the threads will stop burning. A synthetic fabric will burn with a smell like burning plastic and will drip, form a black ball of residue (not ash), and produce black smoke. It will continue to burn even after the flame is taken away.
