Duvet Covers

Duvet covers offer certain advantages. A duvet cover is a giant pillowcase for your comforter that will keep your comforter clean, extend its longevity and give your bedroom a stylish classic look. Our duvet covers easy to put on, easy to wash and can be used as a flat (“top sheet”) in summer.

You can purchase a duvet cover only or a duvet cover and pillowcase set. Our duvet covers are made of 100% cotton and are great for hot sleepers and others. They have zipper closure and corner ties.

Please follow these steps to put a duvet cover on your comforter:

  1. Put your hands inside the duvet cover, grab the two far corners and turn your duvet cover inside out.
  2. Lay it on a bed and lay the comforter on top of it. Make sure all corners align.
  3. Tie the corners of the duvet cover to the loops of your comforter. Some customers tie only the top two corners and that is adequate in most cases. This ensures that the comforter does not slide down inside your duvet cover.
  4. Pull the duvet cover over the comforter so that the comforter is inside the cover.
  5. Pull the zipper at the bottom to close the duvet cover.
  6. Grab the bottom edge of your covered comforter and shake it to evenly distribute it inside the duvet cover.

All of our comforters have loops at the corners. All of our duvet covers have ties at the corners so that the comforters can be fastened to duvet covers in order to prevent them from sliding inside the duvet cover.

Bedding 101:

Duvet cover vs comforter. A comforter is a quilted blanket made of two layers of cloth containing a filling (wool, down, silk, polyester etc) that is technically intended to be used only with a top sheet and does not need a duvet cover. However, we recommend enclosing our comforters into duvet covers because the comforters are too cumbersome to wash at home.

A duvet cover is a protective removable case for your comforter. Duvet covers are machine washable while not all comforters are machine washable. They are often dry cleaned.

Duvet cover vs duvet.  A duvet is a comforter intended to be used with a duvet cover and technically does not need a top sheet but some sleepers use a duvet cover together with a top sheet.

In the US the terms “duvet”, “duvet insert” and “comforter” are often used interchangeably. A “duvet cover” is also sometimes called “comforter cover”.
